Assigning Different Default Thumbnails for Folders and Content

Assigning Different Default Thumbnails for Folders and Content

Question

There are quite a few folders that are displayed to users when they are browsing or searching for content. A default thumbnail has been specified, but that makes folders look like content and confuses users. Is there a way to configure folder and content thumbnails differently?

Answer

Yes, it is possible to assign a different generic thumbnail image for BOTH folders and for content (when a thumbnail isn't available from the source system). These default thumbnails are set at the Hive level, not at the individual Page or widget level.

Setting these defaults will not alter the custom thumbnails that have already been uploaded to individual content items.

  1. Within the Digital Hive designer, open the  panel
  2. Within the Hive properties  scroll down to the Styles section
  3. Look for these entries:

  4. Click on the Default File Thumbnail icon  and then browse to, or upload, the desired image
  5. Click on the image to select it
  6. Repeat steps 4-5 for the Default Folder Thumbnail

  7. Save the changes made by clicking the save icon in the upper left hand corner
Setting these default thumbnail values will change the default view from:
