Yes, it is possible to change not only the appearance of a Content Lane, but the actual layout as well. There are multiple layout options that can be utilized.
The default Icon layout provides users with a card that contains, a thumbnail (if available), the title, object type, content system connector name, rating, and visual cues.
If users want to see the description of an object, pressing the
icon when the user hovers over the object, will invoke a pop-up with not only the description, but other metadata as well.
When including a Favorites Content Lane as part of the Hive design, it may be desired to only show the object thumbnail. This is due to the fact the user is familiar with the report and may not need to see the contextual details about the report. For a cleaner look, you could modify the Icon layout to hide the details, so that just the thumbnail, rating, and visual cues are visible.
The
Detail layout, contains all of the same details as the Icon layout, but moves the textual items, including the description, beneath the thumbnail to produce a card with more context. If the description is longer than a couple of lines, the user can still utilize the
icon to see the entire text and other relevant metadata.
