How do we connect Digital Hive to Microsoft Engage so that discussion threads can be embedded onto a Hive page?
It is possible to embed Microsoft Engage (formerly Yammer) channels onto a Hive page, but first a connector to Engage must be configured in Digital Hive, after a Yammer app registration has been configured in the Azure Portal.
As a Digital Hive administrator, connecting to Microsoft Engage can be accomplished via the following steps:
Embedding an Engage channel on a Hive page
Once the Engage connector has been configured, Engage channels are now available for authors for use in Hives. To add an Engage channel to a Hive page:
- Open the Hive Designer
- Navigate to the Story Board type page where the Engage channel is required
- On the left-hand side of the page, click on to expose the available widgets
- Drag and drop the widget onto the page
- With the Embed Channel widget selected, locate the Channel Properties section in the Properties panel on the right-hand side of the screen
- Using the drop down arrow, change the Source property to the Engage connector (the name that appears will be the display name that was configured when the connector was defined)
- Choose the desired Engage channel name in the Feed dropdown
- Save the changes to the Hive
- Close the Hive Designer
Following these steps, the Hive page will now display the embedded Engage feed.
Altering the appearance of the Engage channel
As part of the Engage Connector definition, there are a few configurable options that will impact how the feed is displayed when embedded on a Hive page. The default settings for the Engage connector look like this, which means that they are in a disabled state.
Embedding a channel onto a Hive page with these settings will result in a channel that looks similar to this:
Showing the header will result in this type of display:
The header title, Digital Hive in this example, is the Network name and is derived from a Configuration setting in the MS Viva Engage admin interface. This value is NOT configurable through Digital Hive.
To suppress the Network name from being displayed, the header could be disabled, or the name could be hidden:
