Connecting to SAP Analytics Cloud

Connecting to SAP Analytics Cloud

Question

How do we connect Digital Hive to SAP Analytics Cloud?

Answer

Like other Cloud based analytics platforms, some administrative action is required within SAP Analytics Cloud to generate an AppID and AppSecret that can be used to broker the communication between servers. From within the SAP Analytics Cloud UI:
  1. Note the base URL of your SAP Analytics Cloud instance (in the browser URL window the URL should look something line https://digitalhive.us13.hcs.cloud.sap
  2. Go to Administration -> App Integration
  3. From within the OAuth Clients section, take note of the value for the Authorization URL and Token URL properties
  4. Click on + Add a New OAuth Client
  5. Provide a meaningful name for the new OAuth client
  6. Ensure that Interactive Usage is selected for the Purpose
  7. Add the redirect URI from the Digital Hive installation (example https://demo.digitalhive.com:9443/theia/oauth/authFinish)
  8. Click Add (note: the process to create the new OAuth client could take a minute or two, so go grab a coffee)
  9. Once the creation process has completed, take note of the OAuth Client ID
  10. Click the Show secret button and take note of the value
  11. Press Done
  12. Scroll down the App Integration page and locate the Trusted Origins section
  13. Click + Add a Trusted Origin
  14. Add the Digital Hive server URL
  15. Click Save
Ensure that you have captured the OAuth Client ID (AppID), the secret (AppSecret), base URL, Authorization URL, and Token URL, before proceeding to create a Digital Hive SAP Analytics Cloud Connector.

As a Digital Hive administrator, connecting to SAP Analytics Cloud can be accomplished via the following steps:
  1. Open the Digital Hive Control Center
  2. Click on the Connectors and select New Connector
  3. Select SAP Analytics Cloud
  4. Provide a name for the Connector
  5. For the BASE_URL property enter the base URL for your SAP Analytics Cloud instance (leave a blank value for Path)
  6. For the AUTH_URL enter the Authorization URL for your SAP Analytics Cloud instance
  7. Remove /oauth/authorize from the URL and add it to the Path property
  8. For the TOKEN_URL enter the Token URL for your SAP Analytics Cloud Instance
  9. Remove /oauth/token from the URL and add it to the Path property
  10. Add the secret to the App Secret property
