Custom Sort Order for Digital Hive Folders

Custom Sort Order for Digital Hive Folders

Overview

As of the 2024.3 Digital Hive release, it is now possible to create a custom sort order for contents within a Digital Hive folder. There are certain scenarios where alphabetical or time based sorting is not sufficient and a custom sort order is desired. This could be because some reports need to be access in a certain order, or there are reports that are more popular than others and the desire is to always have them at the top of the list. Whatever the reason, it is now possible for Administrators to create custom sort orders on folders.

For example, when a folder is accessed, by default the sort order will be on Name.

Users can the change the order from ascending to descending using the arrow, or change the sort based on different elements, like Name, Type, etc.

When a Custom Sort order is in place, the custom sort will be displayed by default, and there will be no arrow to control ascending/descending, but users can still change the sort based on Name, Type, etc.

Folder contents that come from an external content system can NOT have a custom sort order applied to them through Digital Hive.

Create a Custom Sort Order

  1. Log into Digital Hive as an administrator (this feature can only be configured by administrators)
  2. Click on the user avatar and select Explore Content
  3. Browse to the folder that requires a custom sort order
  4. Click on the sort order selector  to expand the list of sort options
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page to locate the custom option (do not click on the word custom as this will toggle the view to the custom sort order)
  6. Click on the  icon to create a new custom sort order via a new pop-up window

  7. In the pop-up window that is displayed, click and drag the  icons to re-order the content to the desired sort order
  8. Pressing the Clear button will reset the order to the original default order (this is how you can remove a defined custom sort order if it's no longer needed in the future)
  9. Press Save to commit the changes
  10. Press X to close the dialog
Once the dialog closes, the folder will display the new custom sort order and this view will now become the default view for this folder.
