Getting Prompted for IBM Cognos Analytics Credentials

Question

When viewing a Digital Hive page that contains an IBM Cognos Analytics visualization, the IBM Cognos Analytics login screen appears instead of the visualization. My IBM Cognos Analytics connector credentials are persisted as part of my Digital Hive profile, they were re-entered, and are valid. How do I prevent the login screen from appearing and have the visualization display?

Answer

The root cause of this issue is a missing setting in the IBM Cognos Analytics configuration. Resolving this issue can be done through the IBM Cognos Analytics web interface, but must be done by an IBM Cognos administrator.
  1. As an IBM Cognos Administrator, open IBM Cognos Analytics in a browser
  2. Click on the Manage menu option
  3. Open Configuration - Manage system settings
  4. Select System - Manage system settings
  5. Click on the chevron beside Security to expand the list of security parameters
  6. Locate the Login parameters allows in URL property
  7. Type m_passportID as the value for that property 
  8. Click Apply
Setting this property correctly should prevent the login screen from appearing in Digital Hive instead of the IBM Cognos Analytics report or dashboard.
