Add a Hive Page that Opens an External URL

Add a Hive Page that Opens an External URL

Question

Is it possible to add a top level menu page that launches an external URL? The original plan was to add a page to the Hive menu navigation and then embed the URL onto the page using a Web Page tile, but the target URL does not allow itself to be embedded.

Answer

It is possible to add a Link type page that will allow that page header to launch an external URL.

To add a Link page:
  1. Open the Hive that requires an external URL page link
  2. Open the Digital Hive Designer by clicking on the Hive Launcher  icon and selecting Open Designer
  3. Add a new page by selecting the Page: drop down arrow

  4. Click on the New page... option
  5. Select the Link page type

  6. Press DONE to add the new page to the Hive
  7. In the Properties panel for the newly added page, provide the following details
    - Page name
    - Path
    - URL
    - Target (determines whether the link opens in a new tab or the same tab)

  8. Save the changes to the Hive and close the Designer
The result of these changes will introduce a new page, labeled Digital Hive, in the top level menu that opens https://digitalhive.com in a new tab when that page link is accessed.

This feature is only available as of the 2024.3 release.
