There is a lot of content that would be desirable for end users, but the content is only available through a URL link. There was an attempt to embed the individual URLs through a Web Page tile, but the settings on the URLs will not permit embedding. Is there an effective way to surface these URLs to users when they can't be embedded?
In addition to adding content from Business Analytics and Content Management systems, Digital Hive also provides a way to add custom URL objects to the Digital Hive content store. The benefit of adding URL objects is that the 'link' can appear alongside other content, have a custom thumbnail, custom fields metadata, ratings, comments, etc, and is searchable.
To add a custom URL object:
- Click on your avatar and select Explore Content
- Navigate to the desired folder for the URL object
- Click on the menu icon and select Create link to open the Link properties window
- Provide a name, Target URL, and description for the link. Also, indicate whether the link can be embedded or not so that it can be reused on Hive pages, if it's embeddable
- Press SAVE
This will create a new catalog entry for the URL object.
Because this URL object is now a standard catalog object, it has the same properties and capabilities as other objects, which means that a custom thumbnail can be applied, and metadata can be added for more context.
Clicking on the 'Unbounce Conversion' link object will open the properties panel for that URL object.
Users can access the content by using the
icon for the URL object and selecting either
View (opens in same tab) or to launch the URL in a new window,
View in new tab.
It is also possible to add a menu option that calls a URL.
