Creating a Custom Color Scheme

Creating a Custom Color Scheme

Question

Within Digital Hive, we can manually change color values, or use predefined color schemes, but is it possible to create a color scheme that can be saved and reused in the future?

Answer

Custom color screens can be created by Digital Hive administrators. To create a new color scheme:
  1. Click on your avatar in the upper right hand corner
  2. Select Manage Digital Hive which will launch the Control Center
  3. Under Customizations, select Colors
  4. Click
  5. Provide a name for the new color scheme
Digital Hive provides the ability to define color scheme definitions that support both light and dark modes. The scheme is comprised of a surface color and a maximum of 7 theme colors. Since both light and dark modes can be supported, this increases the total possible options to 2 surface colors, and 14 theme colors.

To define the color values for the scheme:
  1. Click anywhere on the surface colors (either the black or white line)
  2. This will change the view below the scheme colors and allow you to set the surface colors
  3. Click one the round color samples to open the color selector window
  4. You can either type in the hex value in #xxxxxx format, use the rgb(xxx, xxx, xxx) format, or select the color using the color picker.  The slider bar at the bottom allows you to control the opacity of the colour if a more transparent look is desired
  5. Click outside of the color selector window to exit once the desired color is selected
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 to change the other surface color
  7. Click on the Primary color sample
  8. Provide the new color value for the Primary color using the color selector window. You can optionally specify a different color for the dark mode if desired, otherwise the same color will be used for both modes
  9. Click outside of the color selector window to exit once the desired colors are selected
  10. Repeat steps 8-9 for the Secondary, Third, Fourth, and the three additional scheme colors
  11. Once all colors have been defined, click on the Save or Save as button in the bottom right hand corner
The final color scheme design would look something like this:
