Digital Hive Installation and Configuration Overview

Digital Hive Installation and Configuration Overview

Overview

This article serves as a collection of all the steps required to install and configure the Digital Hive solution.

Prerequisites

Digital Hive can be installed on either Windows or Linux based systems. From a server sizing perspective, the default requirements are:
  1. RAM: 16GB
  2. Disk Space: 50GB and at least 10% of the total disk space free
The disk space requirement of at least 10% available space is a hard requirement as some components of Digital Hive won't successfully install without this requirement being met.

Also required is a Digital Hive license key. To request a license key, https://support.digitalhive.com/portal/en/kb/articles/request-a-new-license-key
The installation media will also have to be downloaded: https://support.digitalhive.com/portal/en/kb/articles/download-digitalhive-software

Installing Digital Hive

Digital Hive also supports multiple node installations for load balancing purposes: https://support.digitalhive.com/portal/en/kb/articles/digital-hive-failover

Increasing the Default Memory Utilization

Out of the box, Digital Hive is configured to use a small memory footprint. While these settings are functional, it may be desired to increase the amount of memory allocated for some of the installed components.

Configuring Digital Hive to use an External Source for Authentication

Most Digital Hive installations will require integration with Active Directory. This step should be done prior to any users accessing the Digital Hive installation.  https://support.digitalhive.com/portal/en/kb/articles/configure-active-directory

It is possible to leverage other external security sources for authentication into Digital Hive:

Connecting to Third Party Content Systems

Now that Digital Hive is running, the next step will be to log into Digital Hive. Please note that the first user that logs into Digital Hive will become the 'Owner' within Digital Hive, so make sure that the correct person logs in first. To access Digital Hive: https://support.digitalhive.com/portal/en/kb/articles/installing-digital-hive#How_to_launch_Digital_Hive

As the administrator, connections to the external content systems will have to be configured. The following links are the required steps for the most popular connection types. If you're trying to connect to a system that is not found in the list below, more articles can be found in the Digital Hive Customer Success portal for configuring these supported platforms https://support.digitalhive.com/portal/en/kb/articles/digital-hive-faq#Which_third_party_content_systems_are_support_by_Digital_Hive

In addition to creating connectors for the content systems, you need to indicate which content will be accessible and searchable through Digital Hive.
